Someone Named Eva by Joan M. Wolf

Someone named Eva was absolutely remarkable and a definite must read.  One of my favorite genres besides science fiction/fantasy is historical fiction.  I think this is a story that all should read and contemplate on after it is read.  When most hear the word Holocaust, they think of the jews being mistreated.  Someone Name Eva is the story most people don't know.  It's from the point of view of a german girl being taken away from her family and being brainwashed in to the "Nazi way.  THE only way, according to the Nazi's.  Once the people of Eva's village were rounded up and taken to a school of sorts, they were inspected to see if they would become a part of the infamous Aryan race or be tossed into concentration camps along with the Jews and udesirables.  Eva just so happened to have blonde hair and blue eyes, the perfect candidate to belong to be a part of the Aryan race.  The story is about Eva being ripped away from her German home and thrust into a school on how to be a "good" german girl in the Nazi party.  She survives the dreadful school, all the while worried of what has come of her family, and then is adopted by a Nazi family.  The story is so sad at times, but it speaks the truth about what really happened and its a story that you don't hear.  I would suggest this book to anyone.  It's one of my favorites.

Cirque Du Freak Series

You'll go on a journey with Darren Shan as he goes from timid and shy teenager to confident Vampire Prince. As the series progresses all the way to the 12th book, you'll find yourself wanting to finish one after another.  They do have the Vampires Assistant out on DVD now and I have to say the book, as usual, is 10 times better than the movie.  I like looking for a variety of vampire books because everything is so centered around twilight.  You know the whole lovey dovey thing.  This is more action and fighting and twists and turns.  And I have yet to find another book even close to this series.  By the end of the series I was literally yelling at the book because the ending throws you for a complete loop!  If any of you have read books by Darren Shan, you'll know that his books are pretty dark.  I loved the writing in this series and decided to try another of his series, The Demonata Series.  Word of warning, The Demonata Series is very graphic and bloody.  I literally couldn't get past the first chapter.  I'm not all about the blood and guts and gore, but if you are you shouldn't definitely continue onto The Demonata Series once you've finished the Cirque Du Freak series.  They have absolutely nothing to do with eachother so you don't need to read one series before the other.  The Demonata series has to do more with, yep you guessed it, demons and darker creatures of the night.  Creepy.

The Hunger Games Trilogy

One of my FAVORITES added to my faves list!!!  This is a trilogy of pure awesomeness!  The first book is The Hunger Games, the second is Catching Fire.  The third insallment, Mockingjay,  is due to be released Auguest 24, 2010.  You will be thrown into a world where the government as we know it no longer exists.  They are now in separate sects and every year a girl and boy are drawn in lottery style to be put in an arena and fight for their lives.  Katniss is torn between Gale, her childhood friend, or Peeta, the quiet guy she's thrown into the arena with.  They relationships that take place during these books will keep you wanting more and you WON'T put these books down until you are done reading them!  I have to say, I'm on the Peeta bandwagon.  You can't help but fall in love with Katniss and feel sympathy for her with some of her decisions she has to make.  Everything about Suzanne Collins writing is absolutely great.  I am counting down the days until Mockingjay is released!  This is a series that once you are done reading you'll pick up your phone to tell your girlfriend they HAVE to read it!!!  AWESOME!!!!!  Can't wait to read even more of Suzanne Collins.

YAAAAAYYYY!!!!!

I just wanted to say YAY for me!  I posted my very first post and I'm hoping that people will want to keep coming back for more suggestions and ideas for books!  I guarantee my site to as honest and "unfiltered" as possible.=)  Happy reading!

Betwixt by Tara Bray Smith

This book threw me for an absolute loop!  It's SO crazy.  It grabs your attention pretty quick and kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next, but once I got to to the end it just dropped off and ended.  It left me saying, "what?!".  I found myself wanting to read it just to get it out of the way for the next book on my list.  There's suppose to be a sequal coming out soon, but I couldn't find any conrete evidence of that actually happening.  It left me trying to figure out what was going on, so I'm hoping if there is going to be a sequal that it explains things a lot better.  The 3 characters that you are right away introduced too are very interesting.  Soon their stories start to intertwine with one another and things fall into place.  But once the fay world is introduced it gets a little hazy and weird.  It has some twists and turns though and Tara definitely did her job by keeping it interesting enough to have me wanting to read to the very  end to find out what happens.
